Backwards

This outfit was pre-snow storm. I guess I was feeling kinda "backwards" then. I'm not even sure what that means. But the dress in my last post? I'm wearing it backwards. The sweater in this post? It's actually a cardigan... backwards. It all started from this pin. Oh, Pinterest. It's addicting. You sign up and then the next thing you know, you want to redecorate your appartment, get married and have a super cool DIY wedding, and become an awesome cook.

Note to self: ask your brother to take pictures of you in the cold first, then get him food. Not the other way around. Also, get new tights and clean your rainboots, won't ya?

Inside For Now | eShakti Review

Note: I am not compensated for this review. This dress from eShakti was gifted to me and this review contains my honest opinion.

A couple of months ago, I was contacted by eShakti to see if I would like to review a dress of my choice for you guys. I wasn't sure what to expect, but why not!

For those of you who don't know who they are, eShakti is a clothing company based in India where you can make custom changes to the pieces you pick out. Super cool, right?

Unfortunately, the dress I picked out isn't avaliable anymore, but I chose a classic, solid dress in one of my favorite colors. This dress shipped to me in less than 5 days, which was way faster than I expected and I believe they ship from India (although don't quote me on that.. ha!).

When I first opened the package, it was a little darker than I expected, but definitely not in a bad way. The dress I chose has ruffles on the front around the bust, which I didn't get in the pictures I took. In the second photo, I'm actually wearing the dress backwards! I loved both front and back of the dress, so if I'm in the mood for a little ruffle detail, I'll wear it normally. If I'm in the mood for something a little simple, I'll wear the dress backwards, put a cardigan on, and no one will ever know!

The only downfall was that the zipper on the side broke after my 3rd wear, which was fixable, but I was bummed that I was careless in tugging it and broke it.

Overall, I am happy with the dress I chose and the service from eShakti that I experienced.

Have any of you ever bought anything from eShakti? How was it?

PS: Excuse the not-as-cool indoor photos, especially since you might see a couple more of them. Seattle's winter is getting colder and darker everyday!

Cats with Bowties

Oh hey, remember me? My name is Julie... I'm the girl that runs this blog...
I don't blame you if you don't remember.

But anyways, I'm alive and doing good. I'm back at school AND I finally got a job (it was about time)! It's crazy trying to balance both and usually by the time I get off work, it's too dark for photos. I'm trying to fit blogging back into my schedule though, but I'll admit I won't update as much as I did since I can only take photos over the weekend. Better than nothing?

I took these photos over the weekend and while I was browsing the internet this morning, I visited EBEW and whaddaya know?! It's colored tights day.

Usually when I think about trying new trends, I go to Forever 21 and get something cheap incase I end up not liking it a month or two later. I wasn't sure I could rock bright tights, but I gotta say, I'm obsessed with my pink tights.

And with this crazy cat lady dress. The cats have bowties. Enough said.

Without Me

I'M BACK! And don't worry, I've been doing my laundry this whole time. I've actually been busy getting settled in and ready for school again. Although I will miss my secluded small town photo spots and borrowing accessories from my mom, I'm excited to be back in Seattle!

There's a point in Summer where you've done nothing for so long that you're actually excited for school, but I've also dressed lightly for so long that I'm ready for layering! Who else is excited for fall?

Next up, I have a special review for you from eShakti!

Summer Skin | The Monthly Mix

Woohoo! You guys probably forgot about these, huh? It's okay. Obviously, I did too. But to make up for it, I made an entire summer playlist and now we're back on track!

And sorry for the short break I've been taking with my outfit posts. Okay, it's not exactly a break. It's more of a... "my entire wardrobe is in my laundry basket and I'm just now getting around to washing it" phase. Eek.

I'm loving the necklace over a button up idea. It's not anything new or original, but after I saw this pin, it was like a lightbulb over my head. Can I please have more necklaces and button ups to experiment with? This is what Pinterest will do to you (and this too!).

Also, one of the things I'm doing this summer is learning how to sew. This skirt was used as practice and if you look closely at the hem, you could probably tell. So, um... Don't do that. Hahah. I'm so into it though and sooner or later I'll be doing refashions like crazy. We so excited.

Around The Web

This is a little something I started a few months ago, but never really got around to "finishing". Photography is one of biggest hobbies and I love it so much. Actually, one of the reasons why I started Mint & Mellow was so that I could get more practice. I think I'm way better behind the camera than in front of it, so if want to check out photos that aren't all of me, it's definitely here. My hard drive got formatted a few weeks ago (I'm still so sad!!) so I lost all my old photos that I was going to post. But on the bright side I guess that's more of a reason to get other there and start shooting again! Anyone want to model for me?

Theresa of Pretty Dandy is holding a fun project called Package Exchange Project. Basically, you are paired up with a partner and you send each other a package full of goodies! I love getting stuff in the mail (even though this rarely happens) and ever since I did the traveling journal, I've wanted to do something similar. The theme for this round of packages is The Secret Garden and I already have a bunch of things in mind. I'm so excited! Find out more about PEP and/or sign up here by August 20th! You may be my future partner...

Pinterest has gotten pretty well-known around the blogosphere, but I don't think I ever shared mine. If you have one, let's follow each other! I'm always looking for new photos to add to my boards and serve as inspiration. Yup... I'm addicted.
